Croatia

This trip to Croatia was totally impromptu. The night before I thought we were going to Krakow in Poland. Then we decided to join 9 people going to Croatia, then there wasn't enough room for us in the van so me, Ryan, Dylan, Tuomas, and Gizem decided to rent a car and go south in Croatia while the others were staying north. Then when we got to the boarder, Ryan realized that he left his passport on top of the car at a gas station an hour and a half away. We drove all the way back but it wasn't there so it was just me, Dylan, and Tuomas.

This is a picture of me at school. We all met there and this was the point that we didn't even know who we were going with, or where we were going.

The first night we drove down to Zegrab. We got there at like 12:30 am because of the whole passport issue.

Me and Tuomas in front of the hostel the next morning.

We wanted to go south as soon as possible so we basically spent 15 minutes in Zegrab. We just wanted to get to the sea and we have seen a lot of cities like this before.

This is the cathedral.

This is the statue in front of the cathedral.

After Zegrab we drove down to this amazing national park, Plitvice Lakes National Park. It was all lakes. Every lake was at a different level and they had all these waterfalls flowing into each other. The water was bright blue, like we were in the Carribean except it was a lake!! It was one of the most amazing places that I have ever been to in my life. It was huge, we spent the entire afternoon just hiking around all the lakes.

Here is the map of all the lakes.

The rest of the pictures are just pictures around the park, they really don't need any explanation.

Us in front of the big waterfall.

That night we drove into Split. Split is a really nice town on the Mediterranean sea. It was the first time I had ever seen the Mediterranean sea. We stayed at this hostel called Al's Place. It was really cool, in the middle of the city. It was owned by this really funny 50 something year old British man named Al who was hilarious.

Picture of Split.

The "boardwalk" of Split.
The entire inner town of Split is narrow walking streets. It used to be a Roman Palace and all the walking streets are actually what once was the hallways of the Palace.
Part of the Palace ruins.

The first day we were in Split we just went to the beach. The coast was so beautiful we just sat on the beach in the sun all day. We sat out on the rocks in this picture.

Me at the beach.Sailboat out on the Mediterranean.

Us at the beach. After we lounged around for hours, we walked a bit along the coast. There were a lot of eucalyptus plants and cacti. This is a picture of where we were walking.

After that we had a really good dinner. Right across the street was the water, so we had a pretty good view.

The streets of Split at night.

The next morning we took a ferry to island of Brac. This is just us on the ferry.

Picture of the island from the ferry.

Then we took a bus to the other side of the island to Bol. Here are Tuomas and Dylan in Bol.

Bol has a famous beach, Paklina Beach. Here is my picture of the beach. It on that peninsula in the picture.
This is the beach from the air. I obviously did not take this picture.

Me on the beach.

There were a lot of kite surfers that day.

After we were done, we drove all the way back to Zegrab that night and stayed on the same hostel as on the way down.

Then we left for Budapest Sunday morning.

This is just a picture I took on the drive back. There were so many fields of these yellow flowers on the entire drive in Hungary. I think they were mustard plants.
