The First 2 Days!!

The airplane that started the journey to London. Two stories!! Boeing 747 (I think Hamilton Sundstrand designed parts for this plane). The plane ride was pretty empty so I got an entire row in the very front of coach to myself. Unfortunately the arm rests couldn't fold up, so I only slept for an hour. The good thing was Mansfield Park which was part of the Masterpiece Theatre this week that I missed was in the movie selection.

The sign for the flight. Some random man talking to the British Airways lady.

The flight to Budapest!! I didn't feel too good on this flight but it was short. I arrived at the airport at 11:55. I walked right out of the terminal, went through customs, got my bags from baggage claim, and got in the airport minibus in lest than 20 minutes. I was very impressed by the efficiency of the airport.

When I arrived at our apartment, my roommates Lorriane (from France) and Eline (from Netherlands) were there to greet me. Our apartment is beautiful. It is on the top floor overlooking Pest. We walked from our apartment in Pest to the school across the Danube in Buda. This is the a picture of Gellert hill from the bridge as we crossed the Danube. The statue of Liberty is at the top of the hill.

This is the second day in Budapest. This picture is taken from the balcony of our apartment facing west. We live on the top floor (5th) on one of the main roads on the Pest side of the Danube. We are just 3 blocks from one of the main city centers.

View from balcony facing east.

This is the living room in our apartment on the second day. Eline is on the left and Lorraine on the right. Andy and Ryan are living with us for a couple of days until they can find an apartment.

View from our balcony facing south.

O Annie, your photos look so cool!!! I can't wait to hear more about your international roommates and your fabulous life in the city on the Danube. My last day at work was yesterday: I was supposed to work today, but he totally freaked out at me yesterday and my dad called to say I wasn't coming back. Anyway. Make close friends with your roomies so we can all go visit them in France and the Netherlands! She doesn't happen to have a place in St. Remy, does she?...haha. also get her mom to ship you some french pastries. although, i bet the food where you are is delish too. what kind of food are they known for in Pest?

Annie,

The Prague castle statue is of St. George slaying the dragon. It is in the courtyard where the President's offices are.

Really neat pictures - the weather looks a lot warmer than here.

Love,

Mom

Annie, how awesome. What an experience you're having - please keep up the blog. We'll all be so much smarter about Hungary by the time you come home! I already learned that Buda and Pest are separate - didn't know that. Keep the news coming -
